Introduction

남당항은 광활하게 펼쳐진 천수만과 어우러진 수산물의 보고로 대하, 우럭, 새조개, 꽃게, 새우 등 사시사철 싱싱한 수산물이 있고, 주변에는 많은 횟집이 산재해 있는 홍성의 관광 명소이다. 특히 천수만 최고 별미인 새조개가 유명하다. 잔잔한 은빛 수면으로 석양이 아름다우며, 괭이갈매기 등 철새 도래지인 천수만과 대나무가 많이 자생한다고 하는 죽도와 멀리 안면도가 보여 해안 경관이 한눈에 들어온다. 대하, 새조개, 넙치, 우럭 등이 많이 잡혀 1996년부터 대하 축제가 열려 볼거리와 먹을거리가 풍성해서 해마다 관광객이 늘고 있으며, 겨울철 별미인 새조개 축제가 열리는 곳으로 유명하다.
