독립운동가 김좌진 장군은 1905년 홍성에서 호명학교를 설립하였고, 1915년 광복 사건으로 3년간 옥살이를 했으며 청년학우회 회원, 한성일보 이사로 있다가 3. 1운동 때 만주로 건너가 북로 군정서를 조직, 총사령이 되었다. 가옥은 안채와 사랑채·광이 따로 있고 밖에는 마구간이 있다.

Historically, Cheonsuman has well-developed mudflats and was an ecological treasure as a spawning ground for fish on the west coast, but indiscriminate development has caused the preservation of natural ecology to decline, although the mudflat experience village holds a variety of marine resources. Sokdong Mudflat Village is a farming and fishing village located in Cheonsuman, a treasure of the west coast, situated by the sea. Since 2004, it has been conducting mudflat experiences, which have been continuously revitalized. The village’s mudflats and Sokdong Observatory, one of Hongseong’s 8 scenic spots, attract many tourists from outside. The opening of the West Coast Coastal Tourism Road in 2005 transformed the once remote village into a destination for tourists and experiencers. To increase village visitors, a canola flower field is created in spring and a cosmos flower field in autumn. The sunset views over the village mudflats and from Sokdong Observatory, one of Hongseong’s 8 scenic spots, captivate many tourists.

고산사는 청룡산(235m)에 위치해 있다. 신라의 도선국사가 창건하였다고 전한다. 동국여지승람』에 청룡산에 고산사가 있다는 기록으로 보아 적어도 조선 초기에는 실재했음을 알 수 있다. 1974년 조사 과정에서 암막새에 천계(天啓) 6년6월 이라는 기록이 있어 대웅전은 임진왜란 이후인 1626년에 중건된 것으로 추측된다.

싸릿대 울타리로 복원된 만해선생의 생가는 초가지붕을 얹었으며 방2칸, 부엌 1칸으로 구성된 일자형 구조로 한용운이란 문패가 걸려있어, 생전의 만해선생이 마치 그곳에 거주하고 있는 듯 한 감상에 빠져든다. 생가지에서 조금 떨어진 곳에는 위패와 영정을 모신 만해사라는 사당이 있어, 다시금 옷깃을 여미게 만든다.

The Picturesque Arboretum opened in 2005 on about 30,000 pyeong of land, housing around 460 species of woody plants for a total of approximately 1,330 species. Located near the West Sea, it experiences strong winds and high humidity, with a geographically characteristic temperature range causing flower blooming periods to be about two weeks later than other regions. Centered on pine trees, one of Korea's representative trees, this arboretum was designed to convey the comfort and coziness similar to a home garden and to become a space where nature and art coexist as a picture. Facilities include a wildflower garden, greenhouse botanical garden, lotus garden, rock garden, observatory, art museum, Yeonsanghonggil, waterfall, traditional furniture exhibition hall, natural ecology garden, and café. Additionally, groups of 10 or more can make a reservation in advance to receive a guided forest tour of the arboretum.
