Palbongsan is a mountain (327.4m above sea level) located in Palbong-ri, Seomyeon, Hongcheon-gun. The Hongcheon River surrounds the mountain on three sides. It is designated as one of Korea's 100 famous mountains by the Korea Forest Service and is considered one of Hongcheon's eight scenic spots. When looking at the mountain before hiking, it may seem too low for its reputation, but once you climb, the rocky ridges are challenging and surprising. Along the southern bank of the river, eight peaks stretch in a row, mostly rocky, requiring climbers to hold ropes or climb nearly vertical ladders, so caution is necessary. Although a low mountain, the many rocks and rugged ridges make hiking time-consuming. Hiking routes include A course (2 hours) starting from Palbongsan tourist parking lot ascending peak 1 and descending from peak 2; B course (3 hours) descending from peak 7; and a course (3 hours 30 minutes) ascending to peak 8 and then descending. The trails can be somewhat rough and slippery, so wearing hiking shoes and paying attention to safety are recommended. Nearby facilities include Palbongsan campground, outdoor performance hall, and futsal field, offering various leisure activities at Palbongsan.
Ganggachon is a Korean cuisine restaurant located in Seomyeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province. It offers dishes made from freshwater fish freshly caught from the Hongcheon River and native chickens raised free-range on farms with clean water and air, resulting in rich flavor and nutrition. The menu includes freshwater spicy fish stew, sogari sashimi, native chicken baeksuk, and various other dishes, with outdoor tables available. The spacious interior and chair-style tables are designed for customer comfort. Located within the Palbongsan tourist area, it attracts many hikers and offers beautiful views of the Hongcheon River. The restaurant also features karaoke machines for group customers.
Hongcheon Sono Bello Vivaldi Park is a year-round leisure complex located in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do. It offers various sports facilities including golf, skiing, and water play, as well as diverse accommodations such as hotels, condos, and pensions. Ocean World, located within Sono Bello Vivaldi Park, opened on July 5, 2006, providing visitors with various water play facilities for fun and enjoyment. Ocean World is an eco-friendly water park that minimizes environmental damage, where all ages can comfortably relax and enjoy thrilling experiences simultaneously. The total area is 126,645㎡, consisting of Indoor Zone 43,291㎡, Extreme Zone 25,787㎡, Wave Pool Zone 19,284㎡, Dynamic Zone 31,242㎡, and Mega Slide Zone 7,041㎡, equivalent to 14 soccer fields, with a capacity of 23,000 people. Situated amid clean forests winding through the ridges of Gangwon, Ocean World was designed to evoke the illusion of transporting an unimaginable sea, resembling Egypt. Various sculptures reflecting the spirit of Egypt, such as pyramids, sphinxes, and pharaohs, enhance its charm. The park is largely divided into Indoor Zone, Extreme Zone, Dynamic Zone, and Mega Slide Zone. The Indoor Zone includes wave pools, lazy rivers, tube/body slides, bath pools, water play areas for infants and children, saunas, and outdoor open-air baths, suitable for all ages. The Extreme Zone lives up to its name with Korea's only 8-foot V-wave surfing mount and an Extreme River offering continuous wave thrills, popular among young people. The Dynamic Zone features thrilling themed water play facilities such as the 300m world's longest Monster Blaster, 6-person Super Boomerango, and giant Waterplex, providing thrilling enjoyment. The Mega Slide Zone, newly launched in 2011, offers the world's first Super S Slide, Korea's first and largest 8-person Cairo Racing, the ultimate thrill Double Tornado Slide, and the maximum centrifugal force Double Spin Slide, allowing visitors to fully enjoy a variety of thrills.
