📍 Gyeonggi-do Hanam-si Changwoo-dong 461-9
Located on the Geomdansan hiking trail. It was built on July 11, 2001, with the will and dedication of Hanam citizens. It is a 20-meter-tall structure featuring a 9-meter-tall large bronze statue honoring the sacred spirit of those who sacrificed their lives for the country atop a triangular composition symbolizing Geomdansan. On either side are sculptures abstracting freedom and peace. The bronze statue philosophically and symbolically represents the ascension and eternal happiness of the spirits. The semi-abstract group sculptures at the tower’s ends depict an image playing a requiem to soothe the souls, and the four lines in the center of the triangular composition symbolize the development of Hanam city and citizen harmony. The sculptures were made by Lee Ilyoung, the text was written by Han Unsa, and the calligraphy was done by Lee Byeongtae. Annual memorial ceremonies are held here on New Year's Day and Memorial Day to honor the war veterans.
