Hwasan Seowon, located in Sudong-myeon, Hamyang-gun, enshrines the sage Hoeheon Im Daedong and holds memorial rites twice a year during the spring and autumn middle dates. Later, it also enshrined sages Hoeam Im Jongin and Namgye Im Heemu. Hoeheon Im Daedong passed the Gap-o Siken of 1474 to become a jinsa, serving as Yongseong gyosu and Imsil hyeongam. He built Hoegokjeongsa as a study place in Geumeumgol, Yurim-myeon to educate students and foster talent. Hoeam Im Jongin passed the Byeong-o Siken of 1486 to become a jinsa, and passed the Muo Siken civil service exam in 1498, serving at Seungmuwon Jeongja and Sungkyunkwan Hakjeong, and joined Hanlimwon. He built Monghojeong in 1988 and held spring and autumn memorial ceremonies. Namgye Im Heemu passed the Muo Byeolshi in 1558, serving as Juseo of Seungjeongwon, Jeongeon of Hongmungwan, Hak-yu of Sungkyunkwan, Jipyung and Jangnyeong of Saheonbu, Jeongeon of Saganwon, and left and right Seungji. Historical remains include Mangbukdae and Yeonsanjeongsa, where he educated students. The Seowon buildings consist of Simwonmun, Sanghyeonsa, Gyeonghoedang, and Moi-jae. Simwonmun is the main gate; Sanghyeonsa, with a three-bay front, is the shrine; Gyeonghoedang is the lecture hall; Moi-jae was the dormitory for students. Memorial rites are held twice annually in the lunar months of February and August.
