Hampyeong Gomakcheon Stone Bridge is a stone bridge spanning east to west over Gomakcheon, which flows between the boundary of Hampyeong-gun and Naju-si, also called Ddokdari or Ttokdari. According to legend, in the 14th year of King Wonjong of Goryeo (1273), the monk Gomak Daesa of Beopcheonsa Temple on Muan Seungdalsan created this bridge using magic. The bridge measures 20m in length, 3m in width, and 2.1m in height, and is currently the only Goryeo-era bridge in South Korea. Hampyeong Gomakcheon Stone Bridge is a rare stone bridge in Korea that transformed the wooden furniture joint technique called judu into a stone form, showcasing craftsmanship where stones are freely cut and fitted as if cutting wood. The bridge was built sturdily enough to withstand the strong currents of Gomakcheon, which often overflows, for 700 years. The underwater foundation was reinforced with densely planted wooden piles as support, and gravel was layered at a certain thickness around them to prevent the base from being swept away by rapid water. Carbon dating of the wooden piles from foundation repair work in 2001 confirmed the bridge dates back at least to the late Goryeo or early Joseon period, scientifically proving it as the oldest stone bridge with a known construction date in a civilian area.
Daeheung Restaurant is designated as a Namdo cuisine restaurant and has been operated by two generations for over 30 years. It is a specialty Korean beef (hanwoo) restaurant. The beef used comes exclusively from the hanwoo from Hampyeong cattle market. 'Baksal' refers to the lean meat from the rump area with almost no fat; it has a tender texture and no unpleasant odor. The yukhoe bibimbap is served with pork fat, and mixing it in is essential for the authentic flavor.
Dolmeori Fishing Village Experience is located in the middle area of Hampyeong Bay and was designated as a 'Fishing Village Experience Tourism Village' by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2002. It boasts a superb landscape where dense pine forests and Dolmeori Beach harmonize. Seokseong-ri was called Seokdu due to the surrounding twisted rocky cliffs, but it is now referred to by the Korean word Dolmeori. Visitors can enjoy seawater bathing in the seawater spa and artificial seawater pool, as well as eel fishing, clam digging, and mudflat experiences. Additionally, various activities such as sweet potato harvesting, the Pink Water Festival, and making conch succulent crafts are also offered.
