Introduction

Mowonjae is the shrine of scholar Kim Gukgwang. Kim Gukgwang passed the civil service exam in the 23rd year of King Sejong's reign (1441) and rose in official rank, gaining strong trust by supporting King Sejo's accession. He actively participated in the compilation of the and served as Minister of War, later advancing to positions of Right State Councillor and Left State Councillor. Built in the first year of King Injo (1623), Mowonjae has a front facade of four kan and a side of three kan, with a roof shaped like an eight-character (팔) form called a paljak roof when viewed from the side.
