Mugunghwa Learning Center is a historic park located in Sindoan, Gyeryong, also known as Gwaemokjeong. Gwaemok is a hanja term meaning zelkova or pagoda tree. Three giant zelkovas, each over 500 years old, provide shade like a pavilion, and the surrounding area has a forest library and walking trails, making it a place for relaxation. In summer, hibiscus flowers bloom along the paths, creating a more beautiful scenery. Yongsan-ri in Sindoan-myeon was said to be settled by people seeking refuge from crowded places long ago. They often told stories of immortal guests while sitting here and planted trees they chose, which all turned out to be gwaemok trees, leading to the name Gwaemokjeong. Another legend says that when Muhak Daesa visited Sindoan, which King Taejo Yi Seong-gye of Joseon considered as the capital site, he carelessly stuck his staff into the ground, and it grew into a large gwaemok tree that has lived until now.
Gyeryong Sagye Old House was the home where Sagye Kim Jangsaeng, a politician and Confucian scholar in the mid-Joseon period, lived in his later years, dedicating himself to educating disciples and scholarly pursuits. It is currently designated as Chungcheongnam-do Monument No. 190. On a spacious land of about 2,800 pyeong, from the south, the gatehouse, Eunnongjae, Haengnangchae, and Anchae are arranged as one compound, with the family shrine located behind them. To the left of Anchae, passing through a side gate, there is another building called Anbyeoldang, and in front of it a large pond, surrounded by many ancient trees that enhance its charm. At the back, the Sagye Pine Wind Path leads to Wangdaesan, allowing visitors to feel the footsteps of the scholar and to rest in nature. Various experiences are offered, and the schedule can be checked on the website.
Yeonsan Halmeoni Sundae (Nonsan) is a sundae specialty restaurant located near Yeonsan Market in Nonsan-si. It is a historic place that has been preserving the native taste for over 100 years through 4 generations. The broth is made using pork bone soup stock, and unlike the usual sundae with glass noodles and tofu, it is handmade using only pure pig's blood and green onions. The hallmark dishes are sundae with blood sausage and sundae gukbap, which consists of sundae and various intestines in a milky broth. Nearby attractions include Yeonsan Market, Yeonsan Station, the Baekje Military Museum, Tapseong Reservoir, and Gaetaesa Temple.
