Introduction

[The pinnacle of fire energy that inspired the Haetae statue at Gwanghwamun] Although it is the main mountain of the old Gwacheon area, its front faces Seoul. The mountain's shape embodies the pinnacle of fire energy, with flames converging at the summit as if burning the sky. At sunset, when viewed from Ttukseom, it truly appears as if on fire. The reason the Haetae statue stands in front of Gwanghwamun is due to concerns that this fiery energy might spread to Gyeongbokgung Palace. However, the Gwacheon side has a chaotic mountain range with very strong ridges. Looking up, the view is hurried and resembles a buzzed head stung by bees. Yet, the fields are narrow, so it cannot be viewed extensively. The peaks are exceptionally beautiful, but the valley scenery is lacking. Although there are rocky streams to the north and south, the water volume is low, so waterfalls and pools do not form. From the northern Seoul National University entrance to Sillim Intersection, the winding valley occasionally reveals rocky surfaces, but the surroundings have long been cultivated and urbanized, erasing traces of nature. On the other hand, beyond the Han River, Namsan, Bohyeon Peak, and the distant three peaks of Samgaksan form a picturesque scene, making it a notable mountain. On clear days, the West Sea can also be seen, making it a "mountain adjacent to a great river and the sea."
