Ingangsa is known to have been founded in 643 (the 11th year of Queen Seondeok) by Monk Uisang. It prospered from the Unified Silla period, and during the Goryeo era, National Monk Il-yeon stayed here for five years beginning in 1284 (the 10th year of King Chungnyeol) until his death, writing the Samguk Yusa. It is said that at this time Ingangsa held the Gusanmun Dharma Assembly twice, indicating its status as the main center of Buddhism nationwide. The temple declined during the late Joseon period and was nearly abandoned until, in 1721 (the 1st year of King Gyeongjong), a monk took on the role of Hwajoo and with contributions from Bae Heung-il, the Daeungjeon, Geungnakjeon, Seungbang, and Jongnu were restored. Designated as a historic site, Ingangsa houses treasures such as the relic pagoda and stele of Il-yeon, called Bogakguksatap, and the Gunwi Ingangsa Stone Buddha Seated Statue. There is also the Il-yeon Studies Research Center and the Samguk Yusa Museum for systematic research on Il-yeon's achievements and Samguk Yusa. In front of the temple is Hakso-dae, a picturesque site once home to many white cranes. Slightly uphill from Ingangsa is Byeongam, spreading like a folding screen, with clear water flowing below. In summer, thousands come daily to enjoy the cool surroundings here.

Gunwi Ingaksa Temple Site is the site of a temple located on a river sedimentary area on the northern foot of Mt. Hwasan in Gunwi-gun. Ingaksa is said to have been founded by Wonhyo during Queen Seondeok's reign. It was greatly renovated during the Goryeo period, and it is widely known as the place where Il-yeon stayed for five years from 1284 (the 10th year of King Chungnyeol) and compiled the Samguk Yusa. The exact founding date of Ingaksa cannot be confirmed by documents. However, excavation revealed building remains believed to be from the Unified Silla period at the site thought to be the location of the Daeungjeon, suggesting it already existed in the late Silla period. Currently, Ingaksa retains a main hall and two buildings, and has important cultural heritage including the Pagoda and Stele of Bogak Guksa (Treasure). (Source: National Heritage Administration)

학소대는 고로면 화북리에서 석산리로 가는 길에 보면 인각사 맞은편에 바위절벽이 있으며 그 아래로 위천이 흐르고 있는 병풍처럼 아름다운 풍경이 나타난다. 예전에 학들이 둥지를 틀고 서식했다고 하여 학소대라는 이름이 붙여진 곳이다. 학소대 좌우로는 송림이 우거진 석산이 자리 잡고 있으며, 주변의 경관이 아름다워 예로부터 시인묵객들이 음풍영월하던 곳으로 그 아래는 맑고 깊은 물이 흐르고 있다. 학소대 앞에는 '기린을 닮았다는 화산의 뿔에 해당하는 자리에 위치해 있다'하여 인각이라는 이름이 붙여진 인각사가 있다. 이 근처에는 인각사와 학소대 뒤를 잇는 아미산이 있다.
