화본역은 대구광역시 군위군 산성면에 위치한 폐역이다. 1938년 12월 1일에 중앙선의 보통역으로 영업을 시작하였으며 역명은 주변 마을 이름에서 유래되었다. 지금은 2024년 12월부로 중앙선이 폐선되어 폐역이 되었으나 여전히 옛 간이역의 모습을 보기 위한 관광객들이 방문하고 있다. 역사의 건물은 1936년 준공되어 1930년대 말의 건축양식을 잘 간직하고 있으며 일제강점기에 지어진 높이 25m, 지름 4m의 급수탑이 남아있어 역사적인 가치도 높다. 화본역은 ‘우리나라에서 가장 아름다운 간이역’에 선정된 적이 있어 많은 관광객들이 찾는 명소이다. 역 대합실에는 관광객을 위한 화본역의 역사와 기록이 담긴 사진과 역무원 모자 등을 전시하고 있다.
