비응항은 새만금방조제의 시작점이자 선유도, 장자도 등 고군산군도로 향하는 서해안 해양 관광의 관문이다. 과거 금강하구둑 완공 이후 군산내항의 토사 퇴적과 항로 협소에 따른 해난사고 우려를 해소하기 위해 군산외항, 군산신항과 함께 신설된 어항이다. 새만금 사업으로 인한 연안 환경 변화에 대응하여 조성된 비응항은, 현재 단순한 어업 기지를 넘어 주변 관광 자원과 연계된 다기능 복합어항으로 운영되고 있다. 특히 2017년 고군산군도 연결도로가 완전 개통되면서 섬 관광을 위한 베이스캠프 역할을 수행하고 있으며, 주꾸미, 갑오징어, 광어, 우럭 등 제철 수산물을 대상으로 한 선상 낚시의 출발지로 전국적인 인지도를 보유하고 있다.

Saemangeum Bieung Park covers an area of 48,993㎡ and features various water facilities, a pergola, Nokhyang-gil (green fragrance path), an outdoor stage, and a hibiscus garden. The hibiscus garden contains over 30 species of hibiscus and uses hibiscus of various colors to create a Taegeuk pattern, providing a natural space to learn about hibiscus. The multipurpose lawn includes a wide meadow and an outdoor stage, hosting concerts and events that help visitors enjoy leisure and cultural activities. Around the plaza, there are six water facilities, including the Panorama and Rainbow Fountain, which cool down hot midsummer nights; especially at night, fountains with landscape lighting have become a new photo spot in Gunsan. Additionally, there are restrooms, a parking lot, and drinking fountains for visitor convenience, while Nokhyang-gil and rest areas are popular dating spots for couples.
