Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Gunsan City · Today’s itinerary

Encountering the Spectacular Dance of Migratory Ducks

The Geumgang River, originating from Tteunbongsaem, meets the sea at the Geumgang Estuary Barrage, which borders Gunsan and Seocheon. The sea in front of the Geumgang Estuary Barrage is Gibeolpo, where Tang Dynasty naval forces invaded during the fall of Baekje, and also the place where Choi Mu-seon used Korea's first firearms to annihilate Japanese troops at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty. The Geumgang Estuary is a place with a fairly deep history and, in winter, a migratory bird habitat where you can see the spectacular flock dance of Gadwall ducks.

Set against the vast sea beside the harbor, visitors can see 16 military equipment units of 13 different types no longer in use. Exhibits include the navy ship Wibong, deployed in the Vietnam War, as well as armored vehicles, self-propelled guns, fighter jets, and army, navy, and air force equipment retired after frontline service in defense of the country.
