Kim Hain Art Hall was opened in October 2008 by novelist Kim Hain, author of "Gukhwakkot Hyanggi," the original work of the drama "Autumn in My Heart," located in Munam 1-ri, Jukwang-myeon, Goseong-gun. The hall is an accommodation and experience space created by Kim Hain and ceramic artist Jeong Jaenam. It faces the sea in front of Jajakdo, Goseong, just 10 minutes from Sokcho, allowing visitors to enjoy the dazzlingly clear and blue sea right outside.
Jajakdo Beach consists of white fine sand along a crescent-shaped coastline and a 6,000-pyeong white sandy beach. The swimming area is wide and shallow, making it a beach suitable for families with children. The scenic views of the rugged rocks developed on both sides of the beach are very outstanding. Compared to other places, the long white sandy beach and dense pine forest boast a unique landscape, and since its opening in July 1991, it has been continuously loved by many tourists. The rocks, polished smooth by strong waves, are scattered in various shapes and create a very impressive sight, with a snorkeling point available. Visitors can spend hours catching clams hidden in the fine sand and collecting shellfish attached to the crevices of rocks with children.
The Eomyeonggi Old House located in Goseong-gun, Gangwon-teukbyeoljachi-do, was purchased in the 1860s by the current owner Eomyeonggi’s great-grandfather Eomyongsu. The house originally settled on this site about 400 years ago but was burned down in a fire. It was restored to its former appearance around 1750 (26th year of King Yeongjo) by Eotaejun. Situated on a sloping hillside, the house occupies a wide plot with an L-shaped main building. To the left is a mill, to the right is a haengnangchae (auxiliary quarters), and at the back is a barn. The main building contains both the anchae (inner quarters) and sarangchae (men’s quarters) in one structure. It measures four rooms wide and three rooms deep with a three-row stacked structure. On the left side of the building is a large kitchen and cowshed; the center houses the anbang (main room), woodanbang (opposite room), and daecheong (main hall); and on the right are three sarangbang (men’s rooms) arranged vertically. The kitchen and cowshed protruding forward is a typical floor plan often seen in Goseong-gun. A roof is installed between the kitchen and cowshed, and behind them is a fixed grain storage cupboard (dwijoo) attached for storing grain. The sarangbang at the front serves as the owner's daily living space, while the two sarangbang behind are for receiving guests. A notable feature of this house is the 'deogeumae,' a space appearing between the roof and ceiling visible in the anbang, woodanbang, and middle room. It serves as storage when needed and also blocks cold air descending from the roof.
Sampo Beach, a summer resort with a clean white sand beach and dense pine forest, opened in 1977 and was designated a national tourist attraction in May 1980. The sandy beach, 800m long and 75m wide, is densely covered with seaweed, and the water depth of about 1 to 2 meters allows visitors to fully enjoy swimming. Additionally, the quiet and clean wide white sand beach along with the surrounding pine forest makes it suitable for family beach outings. Opposite the beach lie Heukdo, Baekdo, and Homiseom Islands, making it popular as a sea fishing spot as well.
