[A Mountain Resembling a Lotus Flower] Named for its resemblance to a lotus flower, Yeonhwasan is a representative mountain of Goseong. It is located northwest of Goseong-eup, and in 1989, the area including Gaegcheon-myeon and Yeonghyeon-myeon was designated as a provincial park. Okcheon Temple is one of the ten major temples of the Hwaeom sect, known for its delicate arrangement as a thousand-year-old temple complex. From Yeonhwasan, you can see Danghangpo, the deep blue sea to the east, as well as the view of Okcheon Temple nestled among the mountain peaks and the Buddhist relic exhibition hall. The mountain has gentle terrain and well-maintained paths, allowing for a light and enjoyable hike.
The starting point is Goseong. There is a local bus to Gaegcheon-myeon Office below Okcheon Temple that takes about two hours. If you miss the direct bus to Goseong, take the bus to Tongyeong and get off at Goseong. You can also take a bus from Jinju directly to Okcheon Temple. Access routes include Namhae Expressway, National Route 14 connecting Masan and Goseong, Local Route 1007 from Baedun, and the entrance road to Okcheon Temple.
