경상북도 고령군 고령읍 지산리에 자리 잡고 있는 대가야박물관은 대가야의 역사와 문화, 그리고 순장 풍습 등에 대해 보고, 느끼고, 체험할 수 있게 만든 새로운 개념의 박물관이자 종합 전시관이다. 현재 2000년 9월 개관한 대가야왕릉전시관과 2005년 4월 개관한 대가야박물관으로 이루어져 있다.

Gae-gyeongpo Memorial Park was established in 2001 to reflect on the historical significance of Gae-gyeongpo in Goryeong-gun, located by the Nakdong River. The park features a neatly maintained wide lawn with a monument and marker stone describing the origin of Gae-gyeongpo, as well as parking lots, a mineral spring, pavilions, and benches for rest. Environmentally friendly solar-powered lighting facilities are installed. Gae-gyeongpo was a major port used to transport grain and salt inland in Gyeongsang Province until the Joseon Dynasty. The route by boat was so beautiful it was called Nakgang Chilhyeon, and poets like Songam Kim Myeon, Oksan Lee Gi-chun, and Cheonghwi-dang Lee Seung enjoyed poetry while boating here. Also, this was the docking site for a boat that carried the Tripitaka Koreana from Ganghwa Island via the West and South Seas up the Nakdong River. Monks from the Yeongnam region carried the wooden blocks on their heads from Gae-gyeongpo ferry to Haeinsa Temple.

대가야의 도읍지 고령 읍내에 자리한 "황금터 숯불갈비"는 도로 주변에 근접해 있고 주차시설이 비교적 양호하기에 대가야의 유물을 관광하고 식사를 겸하여 잠시 휴식을 취하기에 좋은 곳으로, 식당의 외관은 목조 건축물의 정감과 깨끗함이 묻어나고 실내 환경 역시 천장이 높고 넓은 유리창으로 들어오는 햇살의 채광으로 시원하고 깨끗하게 느껴진다.

고령 대가야유적지는 520년 동안(A.D.42 - 562) 번영하였던 대가야국의 도읍 고령에 있는 유적지들을 말한다. 최근 대가야 문화에 대한 연구가 활발해지고, 문화답사에 대한 일반인들의 관심이 고조되고 있다. 한반도의 문화와 역사를 바로 알기 위해서 고대 문화의 흔적을 살펴볼 만한 곳이다. 국내답사가들 외에 일본인이 많이 드나드는 곳이기도 하다.

가야금을 창제한 악성 우륵과 관련된 자료를 발굴, 수집, 보존, 전시하여 국민들이 우륵과 가야금의 세계를 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 건립한 전국 유일의 우륵과 가야금 테마 박물관이다. 맑고 깨끗한 가야금의 고장 고령에서 우리 민족 고유 약기인 가야금과 가야금 창시자인 우륵에 대해 이해할 수 있는 살아있는 교육의 장이며, 입혀져 가는 정통음악의 향기를 느낄 수 있는 곳이다.
