National Road 17 driving four seasons along the Seomjingang River | Travel Course | K-Travel Mate

국도 17호선 멋진 길은 곡성역에서부터 시작한다. KTX역사 중 유일하게 육교나 지하도 없이 선로를 직접 건너는 신기로운 역으로 외관이 인상적이다. 섬진강을 따라 드라이브를 할 때의 시작점이다.

Since April 1999, when the Chipochipo Seomjingang outing tourist train event began as one of the county's major policies, Gojang-ri in Godal-myeon has newly emerged as a tourist attraction in Gokseong-gun. This train operates a 10 km round trip from the old Gokseong Station (Seomjingang Train Village) to Gojang Station, faithfully restored to resemble the steam locomotive that actually ran in the past. Seomjingang Train Village features the clear and clean Seomjingang River, trains running on old tracks (disused lines), two ferry crossings across the river, and the remarkable scene of three lines converging: National Road No. 17, Jeolla Line Railroad, and Seomjingang River. It is Honam's best driving course, surrounded by a lawn plaza, a gazebo, a foot-operated mill, a waterwheel, and a cosmos flower path, forming a fantastic Seomjingang riverside bicycle hiking course. You can leisurely enjoy the scenery created by the fresh green of spring along the Seomjingang and the flowers by the roadside.

The Seomjin River meets Gokseongcheon, Geumcheoncheon, and Godalcheon to form a vast wetland called Chimsil Wetland. The area of Chimsil Wetland reaches 2.03 million square meters, where 665 species of wildlife have been confirmed, including endangered species such as the first-grade otter, second-grade leopard cat, Korean pond turtle, and white-tailed eagle. Recognizing its value, Chimsil Wetland was designated as National Wetland Protection Area No. 22. From autumn to spring, when the temperature difference between day and night is large, water mist rises creating a fantastic atmosphere, making it a famous spot for photography.

섬진강이 흐르는 강변에 위치한 곡성섬진강첨문대는 봄철 섬진강 십리벚꽃길의 스타트 점으로 꽤 아름다운 풍경을 담는다. 또한 별 보러 가기 좋은 곳이다. 국내 순수 과학기술로 만든 600mm 리치크레티앙 반사망원경을 설치한 주관측실, 다양한 망원경이 설치된 보조관측실, 8m 돔 스크린을 갖춘 천체투영실, 태양계 8대 행성, 별의 일생, 천체모형 등을 볼 수 있는 전시실을 갖추고 있다.

This location, where the Seomjin River and Boseong River converge, is a natural recreation area famous as a midsummer retreat with a vast 30,000-pyeong white sand beach. In summer, there are no mosquitoes, making it popular for family camping. The Banwol Bridge and a railway bridge cross the river side by side, creating a charming scenery. Famous fishing spots are scattered along the lower Boseong River, attracting many anglers. The river offers various water sports, including swimming, leisure boats, water skiing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, and rafting. A 'mosquito legend' is told here: General Gang Gam-chan, traveling with his mother, camped overnight in Amnok Recreation Area; disturbed by persistent mosquitoes, he allegedly shouted to seal their mouths. Perhaps for this reason or due to the cool flow of the Seomjin River, there are few mosquitoes in summer compared to other regions. About 150m beyond Amnok Bridge, on the right, is Amnok Sangsang School, an indoor experience space.

섬진강 건너에 위치해 있으며 여행객이 많이 이용하는 역이다. 역내 구례군관광안내소가 있어 알짜 정보도 얻을 수 있다. 레트로 하고 옛 정취를 느끼기에 좋으며 최근 예능 프로그램 윤스테이 촬영지로도 유명해 많은 사람들이 방문한다.
