Ssanggok Valley is one of the eight scenic spots of Goesan. It extends over a 10.5km section from Ssanggok Village in Chilseong-myeon, Goesan-gun, located 10km towards Yeonpung from Goesan, to Jesurijae. Preserving its naturally beautiful landscape, Ssanggok Valley was historically known as Ssanggye, and during the Joseon Dynasty, many Confucian scholars and literati such as Toegye Yi Hwang and Songgang Jeong Cheol cherished and spent time enjoying Ssanggok’s scenery. Surrounded by the majestic mountains of Bobae, Gunja, and Bihak, the valley’s clear flowing water harmonizes with dramatic cliffs, old pine trees, and dense forests. The nine scenic spots include Horongso, Sogeumgang, Byeongam (Tteokbawi), Munsuam, Ssangbyeok, Yongso, Ssanggok Waterfall, Seonnyeotang, and Madangbawi (Jangam).
