The Memorial Monument to Lord Kwon Chung-min's Loyalty and Martyrdom is a historic monument near the Geumgang River that honors Kwon Jong, the magistrate of Geumsan County, and his son Kwon Jun, who died in loyalty while resisting Japanese invaders during the Imjin War when they invaded Geumsan. The father and son set out to block the Japanese invading the Yeongdong area of Chungbuk but were killed in battle attempting to cross the river. The monument is located about 50 meters southwest from the entrance of Jewondae Bridge, with an inscription in Chinese characters on the front reading '증정헌대부이조판서시충민공행금산군수안동권공휘종순절유허비.' The text on the memorial was written by Lee Seung-bo, and the calligraphy was done by their 11th descendant Jeong-hyeon. The monument was initially erected in 1878 (the 15th year of King Gojong) by the Geumsan Confucian scholars, but its inscription was defaced by the Japanese in 1941. It was restored after liberation and placed again, with a protective pavilion built in 1974. Nearby attractions include the Gireogi Park, Geumgang Ecological Science Experience Center, and Geumgang View.
Gireogi Park is located in Jewon-myeon, Geumsan-gun, Chungnam. Its landmark is an 80m high artificial waterfall created on natural rock in 2017. Various walking trails along the Geum River are available, making it a great place to enjoy a stroll while experiencing nature. Nearby is the Wolyeongsan Suspension Bridge, offering scenic views of Wolyeongsan, Bu-eongsan, and the Geum River. The park is situated close to Geumsan IC, with nearby restaurants famous for eojuk and doribbaeng-i.
The Dragon Statue and Tiger Statue in Cheonnae-ri, Geumsan are located about 100 meters apart next to a stream. The two stone statues show intricate carvings of a dragon complete with horns and antlers, and a tiger standing up on his hind legs respectively. The statues are believed to have been made during the late Goryeo period.
These are two stone carvings each depicting a dragon and a tiger. Located 100m north of Jewon Bridge (濟原大橋) on the banks of the Cheonnae River flowing west of Cheonnaeri, Yongseok (Dragon Stone) is positioned, and 500m further north lies Hoseok (Tiger Stone). Yongseok features multiple spiral-shaped protrusions and a sculpted, wriggling dragon body, with gills and whiskers on both sides of its mouth holding a yeouiju (如意珠). Hoseok depicts a tiger sitting upright on its front paws, with thick protruding curves and circles carved to create the tiger's fur patterns. The tiger’s body faces west but its head faces north with its mouth wide open. According to legend, during the late Goryeo period's Red Turban Rebellion, King Gongmin came down to Andong and chose this location for his tomb, preparing these stone figures as necessary artifacts, but left them as is after returning to Gaegyeong.
