The Nam-i-myeon Geoncheon-ri area, where Geumsan Forest Culture Town is located, is ecologically very important for plants, with forests close to primeval woodlands well preserved and various plant species including southern and northern species growing there. This area is a comprehensive forest ecological recreation complex featuring Geumsan Ecological Forest, Nami Natural Recreation Forest, Neutigol Forest Bathing Area, Forest Ecological Culture Experience Complex, and Wood Culture Experience Center, where visitors can leave beautiful footsteps amid green forests and clear atmospheres while enjoying various programs throughout the four seasons. Established as an ecological attraction of the clean Geumsan-gun, Geumsan Forest Culture Town is a place to experience all forest-related cultures. In addition to the existing Nami Natural Recreation Forest, Neutigol Forest Bathing Area, Geumsan Ecological Forest, and Geumsan Health Forest, recently completed Forest Ecological Culture Experience Complex and Wood Culture Experience Center realize the vision of a future-oriented advanced forest focusing on ecological education, recreation, and forest healing.

Geumsan-gun consists of 71% forested area, rich in forest resources. In particular, the Namimyeon Geoncheon-ri area where the Geumsan Forest Culture Town is located has well-preserved forests close to virgin woodland. It is ecologically very important due to the growth of diverse plant species including southern- and northern-type plants. This area is a 'Forest Ecological Integrated Recreation Complex' where Geumsan Ecological Forest, Nami Natural Recreation Forest, Neutigol Forest Bathing Area, Forest Ecological Culture Experience Complex, and Wood Culture Experience Center are located, offering various programs throughout all four seasons. The Geumsan Forest Culture Town, a pristine ecological attraction of Geumsan-gun, is literally a place where you can experience all cultures that can be enjoyed in the forest. In addition to the existing Nami Natural Recreation Forest, Neutigol Forest Bathing Area, Geumsan Ecological Forest, and Geumsan Health Forest, the recently completed Forest Ecological Culture Experience Complex and Wood Culture Experience Center have been established, realizing a future-oriented advanced forest vision themed on ecological education, rest, and forest healing.

Geumsan Ecological Forest is located within the Geumsan Forest Culture Town of Seonyabong (758.5m). It is an experiential site where you can learn about rare plants that are hard to encounter as well as plants only seen in books. The forest features a variety of plant groups including wildflowers, medicinal plants, and trees. The vegetation growing in the ecological forest is identified as 545 species across 325 genera in 103 families. Although the diversity may seem overwhelming, after entering the forest you will find thematic gardens along the path such as the Ecological Forest Learning Center, Forest Experience Learning Center, Medicinal Forest, Ecological Pond, Shrub Garden, and Paldo Forest. Programs like forest interpretation and ecological healing forest trail experiences (adventure, experience, dialogue, healing, contemplation) are also offered, making it a great place to visit with children.

계족산 황톳길은 숲속맨발걷기라는 테마를 전국 최초로 시도한 건강여행길로 2008년 여행전문기자들이 '다시 찾고 싶은 여행지 33선'에 선정되었고, 2009년 한국관광공사에서 '5월에 꼭 가봐야 할 명소'로 선정하였으며, 유엔환경어린이회의에 참석한 100개국 500여명의 외국 어린이들과 세이셸공화국 미셸 대통령이 맨발로 걸었던 곳이다.
