Okpo Waterfront Park is located near Daewoo Shipbuilding Ocean Plaza and Okpo-dong Community Center. It is a park where many people enjoy exercising or walking in a pleasant environment with wooden decks while feeling the cool sea breeze and listening to the gentle sound of waves. A monument commemorating the victory site of the Imjin War naval battle is erected here, and there is a sculpture resembling an opera house used for performances or as a shade shelter. The scene of adults enjoying fishing and children riding bicycles creates a relaxing atmosphere. Nearby are Okpo Port, Okpo Central Park, and Okpo Victory Memorial Park, making it convenient to visit these spots together with the park.

Okpo Port is a historic site where Admiral Yi Sun-sin first defeated the Japanese enemy during the Imjin War. Geoje, located at the southeastern tip of Korea, served as an outpost defending against the Japanese invaders. Because Okpo was a military strategic point, Okpojin and Jorajin were stationed at Okpo Port. Located on the east side of Geoje, Okpo Port is a harbor with deep waters and calm waves. Beyond the port lies the gateway between Geoje and Busan sea routes, with Tsushima Island appearing nearby. It is close to Japan and easily accessible inland, making it a site of the first Japanese invasions. Okpo Port is the starting point of the “Road to Meet Admiral Yi Sun-sin.” Walking along the seaside deck road, visitors can see Okpo Central Park, Pallangpo Village, Okpo Battle Memorial Park, coastal forest trail, Deokpo Beach, and the birthplace of President Kim Young-sam.

Okpo Park in Geoje-si, Gyeongnam, is a beautiful park developed on a 10,349㎡ leftover site from the 2006 road alignment improvement project, with landscaping trees, pavilions, and sports facilities. It has won a special prize in the Korean Landscape Awards. This park, which preserves the natural scenic lines of the Geoje coastal waters, is now established as a space for fitness and rest for Geoje residents. Particularly, Okpo Daechup-ro, starting from Okpo Park, creates a magnificent view with various flower paths including cherry blossoms, gardenias, and spirea from spring to summer. Recently, flower beds themed around small local happiness have been created in several places, providing citizens and tourists with small joys through bright flowers despite difficult times.

To commemorate the 1592 Okpo naval victory and to pass down Admiral Yi Sun-sin's spirit to future generations, the groundbreaking ceremony was held in December 1991 at the historic Okpo Bay. A 30-meter-tall memorial tower, an altar shaped like the character for 'loyalty' with Admiral Yi Sun-sin's portrait, Okporu pavilion, an octagonal pavilion, and an exhibition hall were constructed, and the Okpo Victory Memorial Park was completed in June 1996. The exhibition hall displays relics related to Admiral Yi Sun-sin, including naval battle maps from the Battle of Okpo. Okporu serves as a lookout pavilion. Every year, a memorial ceremony for Admiral Yi Sun-sin is held in the park, and around June 16, the Okpo Victory Memorial Festival takes place for about three days.
