[The original name is Mayusan] This mountain appears as Mayusan on the Daedongyeojido map but has come to be called Yumyeongsan over time. According to rumors, when the mountain's name was unknown, visitors named it after a woman in their group named Kim Yumyeong. The name Ipguji Valley, meaning 'branch valley at the entrance,' also seems to have been coined by them. Ipguji Valley is well known because it contains several notable spots such as Madangso, Yongso, and Bakjuiso, which flow from Yongmunsan. The summit offers good views over fields of silver grass and is mostly treeless, making it popular as a paragliding launch site. Paragliders use the mountain road ascending from the Seolmaejae Natural Recreation Forest on the east side. The ridge course leading to Seoneochi Pass at about 550 meters has an elevation difference of only around 300 meters from the summit, allowing easy access to the peak. Many hikers combine this route with a neighboring mountain, Jungmisan, using Seoneochi as a boundary, making a loop hike convenient.
Use the Yumyeongsan-bound bus from Sangbong Terminal, which runs six times daily via Cheongpyeong and Seorak. Take National Route 6, turn left at Okcheon just before Yangpyeong-eup, then take National Route 37 over Seoneochi Pass.
