Located in Gujeong-myeon, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, Terarosa Coffee Factory Gangneung Main Branch is more than just a café; it is a factory-style complex cultural space where visitors can visually experience the entire coffee production process. It offers a spacious free parking area and a pet zone outdoor terrace, making it suitable for visitors with pets and children. The interior of the red brick factory building harmoniously houses a roasting machine, coffee museum, art shop, Italian restaurant, and bakery, with high ceilings and concrete floors providing the unique spatial feel of a factory. Here, you can taste specialty coffee beans roasted on site, and a variety of teas are also available for purchase. Nearby natural attractions like Solhyang Arboretum and Yeongok Beach make it an ideal spot for a leisurely travel course with coffee.
Anmok Beach, located in Gyeonso-dong, Gangneung-si, Gangwon, is a 500-meter long, 20,000㎡ white sand beach suitable for families to enjoy summer outings. Adjacent to the beach is Anmok Port, where 23 fishing vessels return by 9 a.m. after catching seaweed in spring; flounder, halibut (gwang-eo), squid, octopus, and manila clams (jjaebok) in summer; and sandfish (doromuk), pollock, and rockfish in autumn and winter. Around the end of August, when the summer season ends, mackerel chase anchovy schools close to the shore, and it is common for people to scoop up the anchovies washed ashore using buckets or nets called bandu. Additionally, this place is famous for its coffee street where visitors can enjoy coffee with a sea view.
Located in Songjeong-dong, it has a white sandy beach 700 meters long and 28,000㎡ in area. The surrounding pine forest is famous. It is said that Choi Munhan, the son-in-law of King Chungseok of Goryeo, brought eight pine trees from Songdo to Gangneung and planted them here, calling it 'Palsongjeong,' which later became 'Songjeong.' There are benches and a snack stand at the road-facing entrance, making it a good spot for those on a drive to enjoy a simple cup of tea or a beverage while overlooking the sea, rather than for beach bathers. The pine trees densely line both sides of the beach road, creating an excellent atmosphere.
Gangneung Daedohobu Government Office is the site of buildings where central government officials stayed when they came down to Gangneung from the Goryeo to Joseon periods. According to Joseon records, it was built in the 19th year of King Taejo of Goryeo (936) and originally had 83 rooms, but now only the guesthouse gate (National Treasure) remains. The guesthouse gate is one of the few Goryeo-era buildings still standing, with a signboard reading 'Imyeonggwan' written by King Gongmin. An excavation conducted in 1993 while planning to build the Gangneung City Hall revealed that this site provides important data for the study of government office buildings from the Goryeo to Joseon periods. Additionally, through records in the Joseon-era "Imyeongji," the site is recognized as important for understanding the history and culture of the old Gangneungbu.
