[A rocky flame soaring in the southern region] Wolchulsan is a mountain similar to Mont Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage site in France. The summit, Cheonhwangbong, resembles a pyramid when viewed alone. The average slope on the Cheonhwangsa side is 37 degrees, making it the steepest mountain in this land. Not only Cheonhwangbong but also major peaks such as Hyangrobong, Yangjabong, Sirubong, and Munpilbong (Wolgaksan) are all made of rock and rise sharply like flames toward the sky. There are no trees; only mountain bamboo and shrubs cover the area lightly, giving a faint green hue. In terms of geomancy, it is called a stone fire star (Seokhwaseong), with the summit made of rock, symbolizing sharpness and fire. The numerous rocks resemble various shapes, including Eumgul, Namgeunbawi, and Tongcheonmun, forming a rock exhibition from east to west. The Misangjae ridge features a distinctive field of silver grass, and cultural relics such as Muwisa, Dogapsa, Wolnamsaji, and Gurim-ri abound around the base, making it a prime destination for exploring the southern region. Mont Saint-Michel, a monastery on a rocky mountain, is also the name of the bay between Normandy and the Brittany Peninsula. People travel to the monastery by boat at high tide and on foot at low tide. Similarly, areas in front of Cheonhwangsa, Gaesin-ri, and Gurim-ri, the hometown of Wangin Baksa, were originally such seas. Wolchulsan is a mountain of UNESCO World Heritage caliber.
