Stepping onto Gyodong do the island of joys and sorrows in Incheon Ganghwa-gun · schedule Other · distance 35.4km · 4 stops · highlights Gyodong Island,…

The history of Gyodongdo is quite old. From Goguryeo through Silla, it became today's Gyodongdo, sharing the reclaimed coastline with neighboring Ganghwado and Seokmodo. Although its size is not large, it is home to the country's first Hyanggyo (Confucian school) dedicated to Confucius, which attracts Confucian scholars annually to perform ancestral rites. Visiting Daeryong Market in Gyodong-eupseong is also recommended. Above all, simply touring the dondaes (fortresses) built along the coastline boundary makes for a meaningful day.
