A tourist district is an area designated under the Tourism Promotion Act to intensively develop tourism conditions. As of April 2023, 34 tourist districts have been designated across 13 cities and provinces. The Danyang Tourist District was designated on December 30, 2005, covering 2 eup and 5 ri in Danyang-eup and Maepo-eup in Danyang-gun, with a total area of 4,448,737㎡. Included within the district are Sobaeksan National Park, Dodamsambong, Sainam Tourist Sites, Gosu Cave, a hang gliding site, cruise ship dock, Buddhist Cheontae Central Museum, and Daeseongsan Natural Recreation Forest. Famous for the Danyang Eight Scenic Views, visitors can leisurely enjoy the magnificent sights of Chungju Lake’s Dodamsambong, Gudambong, and Oksunbong from a cruise ship. Following the winding waterways, one can appreciate scenic views such as Sainam and Sangseonam, evoking a carefree feeling like that of a fairy’s play. Sobaeksan National Park, towering at the center of the Korean Peninsula, offers a glimpse of the grandeur and mystery of the Baekdudaegan mountain range. The trekking course along several peaks, including the main peak Birobong, is a favorite among many hikers. Families can enjoy a relaxing break at amusement parks such as Darian Tourist Site, Cheondong Tourist Site, and Ondal Tourist Site. This area is full of special pleasures including camping to enjoy nature and making memories at drama filming locations. The Danyang Tourist District is beautiful in all four seasons and holds special events to showcase flowers, nature, and Danyang’s history, such as the Sobaeksan Azalea Festival in May and the Ondal Cultural Festival in October. Visiting Danyang during these festivals allows visitors to fully experience the vibrant charm of the area. Additionally, the areas of Dojeon, Byeolgok, Sangjin, and Gosu-ri in Danyang-eup have lodging and various convenience facilities for tourists, establishing it as a tourism city.

Dusan Hang Gliding Site is located at the summit at 520m above sea level, offering relatively easy access and a panoramic view of Danyang's terrain, rivers, floodplains, and current use of underground resources. Danyang Jo Deok-su Old House is a wooden frame tiled roof house located in Sangdeokcheon Village in Gagok-myeon, where the Namhan River winds, on the gentle slopes of Guksubong Mountain at 200 meters above sea level. It is also called a Joja-type house. It is said to have been built around 1770 by Jo Deok-su, who is the 6th great-grandfather of the Jo family. This is a folk house that well represents the lives of mid-level farmers in the region. The 'ㄱ' shaped main building and the 'ㄴ' shaped annex form a 'ㅁ' shape, which is a typical folk house style of the central inland region. The main building was constructed around the mid-19th century with rooms in order from the left front corner: the opposite room, the large hall, and the inner room, with the kitchen and lower room extending forward from the inner room. There are verandas attached to the side corridor in front of the opposite room and behind the inner room, and the floor of the large hall extends to the corridor. In front of the lower room attached next to the kitchen, there is no veranda but a clam shell stove is installed, and the kitchen has a one-room-sized loft at the upper rear, a design more commonly seen in southern folk houses than in central regions. The Sarangchae is a thatched roof house built in the mid-20th century along with the gatehouse, structurally similar to a typical farmhouse.
