Dangjin Sapgyoho is a lake created by blocking the estuary of Sapgyocheon in Dangjin-si. This place has long been an important sea route leading to China. In 1979, as part of the Sapgyocheon district comprehensive agricultural development project, the government constructed a 3,360m Sapgyocheon embankment between Unjeong-ri in Sinpyeong-myeon, Dangjin-si and Munbang-ri in Inju-myeon, Asan-si, which serves irrigation facilities for 24,700 hectares across Dangjin, Asan, Yesan, and Hongseong. The scenery, which includes the West Sea, the lake, and the Seohaedaegyo Bridge at a glance, is beautiful, and with the construction of the West Coast industrial road, Sapgyoho rapidly emerged as a popular national tourist destination. Additionally, Korea's first naval ship park was established here using decommissioned naval ships, aircraft, tanks, and other naval-related equipment, attracting many visitors. Around Sapgyoho, there is a fish market, Marine Theme Science Museum, sea park, sports park, World Art Circus performance hall, amusement park, and various popular restaurants, making it a place rich in sights, activities, and food. Dangjin Sapgyoho can be accessed from National Routes 34 and 38 via Sapgyocheon-gil, and nearby expressways include West Coast Expressway Songak IC and Dangjin IC. Public transportation is available through Sapgyocheon intercity bus terminal. Nearby attractions include Solmoe Holy Ground and Haengdamdo.
Our proud warship, once commanding the vast ocean, has been honorably retired and transformed into a unique space at Sapgyoho Naval Vessel Park where visitors can experience the history and culture of the Navy and Marine Corps. The park features themed exhibition halls on the Navy and Marine Corps, displays inside and outside the ship, and aircraft, allowing children to develop a fascination with the sea and a sense of closeness to the Navy and Marines. Additionally, the 3D theater, game center, carnival plaza, and indoor amusement facilities offer a chance to temporarily forget everything and enjoy the joyful world of childhood. The park’s distinctive resting area, the ship café, provides enjoyment and richness to life.
Waemok Village is a village on the west coast located at the northernmost part of Dangjin-si. It is famous as the only place in the country where you can see the sunrise, sunset, and moonrise all in one location. Situated at the northernmost tip of the Taean Peninsula, it features a unique, narrow, and long landform dividing the West Sea geographically. Nearby Namyang Bay and Asan Bay are deeply inland, giving the appearance of a heron’s neck protruding, which is why the village is named Waemok (meaning 'Heron's Neck'). About 3km southeast offshore from Waemok Village, the rock formations between Nojeokbong and Janggo Port hills resemble a bamboo brush standing upside down, known as Munpilbong, attracting visitors interested in natural scenic spots. The village offers various accommodations, campgrounds, restaurants, the Yacht World Tour Promotion Exhibition Hall, and a beach. Waemok Village can be accessed via National Road 38 and Provincial Roads 633, 647, and 615. The Sangak IC and Seosan IC on the Seohaean Expressway are nearby. Surrounding areas include Janggo Port and Seokmun Sports Park.
