Located a 5-minute walk from Daegu Jungangno Station, Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park was created to preserve the site of the Gyeongsang Gamyeong from the Joseon period under King Seonjo. From 1910 to 1965, the Gyeongsangbuk-do provincial office was located here, and after the provincial office moved, the site was developed into a park in 1970. The Gyeongsang Gamyeong was an administrative organization in charge of administration, military, and judiciary affairs of Gyeongsang Province during the Joseon Dynasty. Within the old Gyeongsang Gamyeong, there were several buildings including Seonhwadang, Eunghyangdang, Jeseungdang, Eungsudang, and Jingcheonggak. Currently, only Seonhwadang (Gyeongsang Province Governor’s office, designated Daegu Metropolitan City Tangible Cultural Property) and Jingcheonggak (residential building, likewise a designated cultural property) remain within the park. Seonhwadang is highly valued as a precious resource since most government buildings from the period no longer exist. The pavilion Gwanpungnu (Daegu Metropolitan City Cultural Heritage Material) was moved to Dalseong Fortress in 1906. A total of 29 commemorative stones honoring the benevolence of the governor and Daegu magistrate remain in the park. Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park combines the historic buildings of Seonhwadang and Jingcheonggak with green forest within the city, featuring a main gate reflecting traditional architectural beauty, a fountain, stone walls, walking paths, and the Unification Bell which prays for the unification of the nation. Located in the center of Daegu’s downtown, it has also been referred to as Central Park.

Daegu Modern History Streets is an experiential tour that brings the participants across Daegu’s alleyways and living history. During the Korean War, Daegu was much less damaged than other regions. Because of that, the city retains the changes in lifestyles before and after the war relatively well. There are 13 courses in total, run by regional self-governance groups in Daegu, defined according to different themes and areas. The most popular among them is Course 2, the Modern Cultural Street, which takes visitors on a tour of major sites associated with Daegu’s modernity. Follow the retro aesthetics and the history of Daegu and Korea along places like Kyesan Catholic Church, Jeil Church, old houses, and the former Chinese Elementary School. Note that multilingual tours are offered to international visitors in English, Japanese, and Chinese, in regular tours (14:00 every Saturday) and on-demand tours (available for groups of more than 5). Daegu Motorcycle Alley is a Daegu-specialized alley with over 70 years of tradition, established since 1950. Located in Ingyeo-dong and Sijangbuk-ro in Jung-gu, Daegu, the motorcycle alley was originally a stream with mostly residential areas on both sides. After Ingyeo-dong was covered as a stream in 1953, motorcycle shops began to gather starting with the Seoul Motorcycle Store in 1961, gradually forming the Ingyeo-dong Motorcycle Alley. The alley was called 'Maljeongeori' (Horse Street) because it used to be a place where horse trading happened. There is a connection between horses of the past and motorcycles of today as both served as major means of transportation. Upon entering the motorcycle alley, the motorcycles displayed in front of shops resemble an exhibition hall. Businesses related to motorcycles, such as purchasing, professional repairs, specialized seat shops, and production of motorcycles for the disabled, are gathered, allowing all needs in one place. Additionally, parts display, exhibition, sales, and stickers are also sold.

Ingyo-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu

Dalseong Toseong Village, known as a famous spot in Daegu, is a place that preserves its old appearance well, allowing visitors to take a historical journey while enjoying murals along the alleys. While walking through the village, there is a workshop called Dalseong Toseong Village Attic Room that offers companion plant experiences and includes a library and a playroom for children called Nuri Room. In addition, there are various facilities such as an outdoor exhibition hall displaying exhibitions about Dalseong Toseong, Sunflower Garden park featuring sunflower murals, and a greenhouse where fresh trees grow regardless of the season.

Daegu Dalseong Park is the oldest outdoor leisure place in Daegu. The park was once a fortress location of Dalgubeol, a tribal country of the Three Kingdoms Era. The area was established as a park in 1905, and in 1965, the city of Daegu transformed the park into the well-organized leisure area loved by citizens and visitors today. Within the park is Historical Monument Gwanpungnu Pavilion, built in 1601 and moved from the entrance of Gyeongsanggamyeon to the park in 1906.
