Bangogae Muchimhoe Alley is a food street boasting a long history since the early 1960s. It is one of Daegu's 10 famous flavors and is currently included in the city tour course. Muchimhoe is made by mixing boiled squid, sea snails, fresh radish strips, and water parsley with spicy red pepper paste, resulting in a soft and chewy texture. The harmony of the pungent spicy and sweet-and-sour flavors is highly addictive. It pairs wonderfully with jjaecheop soup, which is served as a side dish.
Jungnidong Gopchang Alley is a street packed with popular restaurants, offering another delight in traveling Daegu Metropolitan City. Along with Namgu Anjirang Gopchang Alley, it is one of the representative alleys for gopchang cuisine, a famous food in Daegu. The difference between the two alleys is that Anjirang Gopchang Alley mainly serves pork large intestines grilled, while Jungnidong Gopchang Alley mostly offers beef large intestines as hotpot. In the 1980s, a slaughterhouse moved from Seongdangmot to Jungnidong, naturally creating butcher shops and meat restaurants, and street stall alleys selling byproducts like intestines, liver, and tripe, which became the origin of Jungnidong Gopchang Alley. Later, the slaughterhouse moved to Geomdan-dong and an outlet opened at the former site, causing most meat restaurants to leave the alley, but gopchang restaurants remained and have kept their reputation. Notably, this alley offers rare beef gopchang, makchang, and jumeoksi, and being next to the outlet, visitors often come to shop and then taste gopchang. Within a 5-minute walk are Queens Road Plaza, a famed clothing fashion street, and Greenway's trees and various flowers, adding another charm to Jungnidong Gopchang Alley.
