대구 북구 8경 중 1경인 금호꽃섬은 2021년 9월 시민공모전을 통해 하중도에서 금호꽃섬으로 명칭이 변경된 곳이다. 팔달교와 노곡교 사이에 위치한 섬으로 봄에는 유채꽃과 보리, 가을에는 코스모스와 메밀이 있어 아름다운 풍광을 연출하며 하중도 하류에는 하천 정화력을 가진 물억재가 식재되어 있다. 상습 침수지이자 환경 오염원이던 땅을 정비해 계절별로 피는 꽃을 심어 시민들의 휴식처가 된 장소로, 연인들의 데이트 장소, 가족 단위의 관광객이 많이 찾는 대구 대표 관광지이다.
