Sintanjin Market is a traditional 5-day market located west of Sintanjin Station in the northern part of Daedeok-gu, Daejeon. It first appeared in records from the late Joseon Dynasty, boasting a history of about 300 years. The market rapidly developed after the Gyeongbu Line Sintanjin Station was established in 1905. The full market scene appears after passing through the underpass or overpass beneath the railroad from Sintanjin Station. The market is bustling with around 1,000 street vendors and customers. It features traditional market specialties such as puffed rice snacks and syrup sellers, as well as various daily necessities like clothing, vegetables, and fish lining the roadsides, remaining unchanged through the years. Under the underpass where the market begins, elderly women from rural areas sell vegetables filling their stalls. Public transportation is available via the Gyeongbu Line Sintanjin Station, with nearby attractions including Geumgang Lothas Sanhobit Park and Geumgang Lothas Eco Park.
