Sin Cheorwon Market is a traditional market located in Galmal-eup, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon Province. It arose spontaneously after 1954 as a place for local residents to barter daily necessities. Near the market stands the scenic Myeongseongsan Mountain (922m), attracting hikers year-round. Located in the county seat, Sin Cheorwon Market operates on the 3rd and 8th of every month. It gathers all agricultural products from nearby Dongsongjang, Wasujang, and Gyeonggi-do Uncheonjang. Here, you can buy Cheorwon specialties such as Odae rice, glutinous corn, dried pollock, and Korean beef at affordable prices. It is also famous for offering a variety of foods from the Cheorwon region. Even on non-market days, it is pleasant to stroll through the market entrance and the streets filled with various goods. Nearby attractions such as Sambuyeon Waterfall, Sungyeom Valley, and Goseokjeong are within 10 minutes, making it a good option to eat at the market and tour the surrounding sightseeing spots.
