Cheongju Garosu-gil, selected as one of Korea's 100 beautiful roads, is considered the most beautiful road nationwide. Stretching from the Cheongju Interchange on the Gyeongbu Expressway to Gagyeongcheon Jukcheon Bridge, 1,527 plane trees planted in 1948 create a tunnel-like spectacle, making it the most beautiful and charming entrance road in the country. Famous as a filming location for the movie "Late Autumn" and the drama "Sandglass," this place captivates visitors throughout the four seasons: fresh green in spring, lush foliage in summer, autumn-colored streets, and a serene winter showing a posture of emptiness. Cheongju Balsan Park is located opposite the Catholic Gagyeong-dong Church and has been transformed into a more pleasant park following the 2019 urban park reorganization project. The scenery extending to nearby Palbong Mountain is beautiful and ideal for walking. At the park entrance, there are two Jeju Dolharubang statues, symbols of friendship donated through a sisterhood agreement with Jeju-si Ido 2-dong Community Center in 2007. The walking paths are well maintained among the pine forest, with various flowering trees, making it a good place to stroll while listening to birdsong. There are also well-constructed slopes, allowing easy access for wheelchair users. Along the walking path is the War Merit Monument, and ground fountains operate from May to September.
