[A Famous Mountain of Azaleas Embracing a Sea of Rocks] The two mountains that form the basin of Daegu are Palgongsan and Biseulsan. Palgongsan, composed of granite, has a majestic mountain range and is considered the father mountain, while Biseulsan, made of andesite, is gentle and soft, earning it the title of mother mountain. Biseulsan is one of the top five mountains in Korea known for its azaleas. The azalea colonies located on the flat summit create a sea of flowers in spring. Along with azaleas, Biseulsan's notable feature is its rocks. The rocks of Biseulsan are not only beautiful but also remarkable. The landscape formed by the fan-shaped piles of stones and rock masses beneath the cliffs can truly be called a sea of stones.
The starting point is Daegu. From the Daegu West Intercity Bus Terminal, take a bus bound for Hyeonpung that runs every 10 to 20 minutes. The fare is 1,600 KRW and the trip takes about 40 minutes.
