Samgwangsa of the Cheontae Order of Korean Buddhism preserves the Buddhist traditional culture and prayer practice of this land, faithfully inheriting the ancient tradition of the Cheontae Order founded in the Goryeo Dynasty. As the representative temple of the Cheontae Order, it is based on the history and tradition of Cheontaegyo that has been continuously passed down through a long history. It is a practice site for one-mind pure Avalokitesvara prayer, carrying out the patriot-Buddhism, daily-Buddhism, and popular-Buddhism based on Sangwol Won-gak Daejo-sa's ‘New Buddhism Movement.’ The temple complex is arranged with Daewungbojeon, Daejosajeon, Jigwanjeon, Jijangjeon, Geungnakjeon, Yaksajeon, Beomjonggak, Beophwa-sammaedang, the 53 Buddhas Palmyeon-guseung Great Stupa, and Iljumun. Samgwangsa's congregation consists of 17 branches and over 20 religious groups, Geumgang Buddhist University, Samgwang Hangeul School (a formal educational institution recognized for elementary and secondary courses), Samgwang Tea Ceremony University, Cheontae Welfare Foundation Busan Branch, Nanum Square, and Templestay, actively practicing Mahayana Bodhisattva paths.
