부산연등회는 국가무형유산 연등회를 부산 지역에서 계승·발전시키는 전통문화 축제이다. 연등회는 약 1,200여 년의 역사를 지닌 우리 고유의 문화로, 부처님오신날을 맞아 연등을 밝히며 서로의 행복과 평안을 기원하고 공동체의 화합과 번영을 도모하는 데 그 의미가 있다. 특히 연등회는 유네스코 인류무형문화유산 연등회로 등재된 세계적인 문화유산으로, 그 전통성과 가치를 널리 인정받고 있다. 부산연등회는 봉축연합대회, 연등행렬, 전통등 전시 등 다양한 프로그램을 통해 시민과 함께 전통문화를 향유하고 계승·발전시키는 데 목적을 두고 있다.
