Igidae is part of Yongho 3-dong, located on the east coast where Jangsanbong faces the sea. It is situated just over a ridge from Yongho Sewage Treatment Plant. The eastern side of Jangsanbong (225.3m) facing the sea features spectacular rocky cliffs, but these are dangerous for walking. Thus, the scenery is mainly enjoyed by boat from the sea. The central part of Igidae consists not of vertical cliffs but sloping rock formations close to flat, extending about 2 km along the coastline following the mountain. This rock surface offers outstanding views of the East Sea and the waves crashing in. Previously designated as a military operation area, civilian access was prohibited until it was opened to the public in 1993. (Source: Busan Nam-gu Culture and Tourism Website)
The former name of Oryukdo Skywalk is 'Seungdumal.' Seungdumal was called 'Seungduma' because it looked like a saddle, which became Seungdumal, and local haenyeos and residents called it 'Jallokgae.' It is said that Seungdumal, longing for the sea, sequentially gave birth to six islands of Oryukdo, and the bulging part of Seungdumal became narrow, forming the hills of Seonchangnaru and the estuary. This place, Seungdumal, is also the boundary between the East Sea and the South Sea. Construction began on September 12, 2012, and opened on October 18, 2013, naming it ‘Oryukdo Skywalk’ to mean walking above the sky. The skywalk is a 15m horseshoe-shaped glass bridge made by installing steel beams 35m above the coastal cliff and connecting 24 glass panels. The floor glass is 55.49mm thick, specially made heavy-load bulletproof glass with four 12mm glass panels bonded with a bulletproof film, designed for safety. Through the transparent glass beneath your feet, the sight of waves hitting the cliff is dizzyingly thrilling. The sea in front of the skywalk shows beautiful and colorful shades at all times, making it a famous photo spot, and on clear days, it offers the closest view of Daemado.
The Cinema Center is a place where you can enjoy films of various genres and sophisticated performances, serving as Busan's representative complex cultural space for visual media. It features various theaters of different sizes, including a 4,000-seat outdoor theater where the opening and closing ceremonies of the Busan International Film Festival are held, as well as the Sky Theater, Medium Theater, Small Theater, Cinematheque, Indieplus, and a film library.
