Gomsohang is located in Jinseo-ri, Jinseo-myeon, 24km from Buan. As Julpo Port's depth decreased due to sediment, in the late Japanese colonial period, to build a port for exporting agricultural and military supplies, Gom Island and Beom Island were dammed to construct embankments creating Gomso Port and Gomso Salt Fields. After liberation, solar salt production began, and a large-scale salted seafood complex was established using fresh seafood from the nearby sea. Due to Gomso Bay's location, Gomso salt, produced from unpolluted tidal flats' mineral-rich seawater, is typically harvested from late March to October. Salt produced in May to June, when pine pollen is abundant, has better taste and higher yield.
