Yulpo Port, located in Yulpo-ri, Hoecheon-myeon, Boseong-gun, was designated as a local fishing port in 1972 and serves as a refuge port for about 1,000 fishing vessels that fish in Deukryang Bay and Yeoja Bay during typhoons. In 1991, it was designated as the Yulpo Tourist Area. Currently, Boseong Yulpo Port has the features of a fishing port equipped with cultural, tourism, and leisure functions. It is close to Yulpo Beach, a sea water green tea bath, and a seafood auction market, offering abundant attractions and foods alongside the tranquil atmosphere of the port. The mudflats revealed at low tide deepen the romance of the sea. The sight of boats anchored in the mudflats adds charm. Especially, the saekkomak (small clams) harvested from the waters in front of Deukryang Bay are collected by going out to aquaculture farms in the middle of the sea on fishing boats, using equipment to scrape and lift from the bottom. Saekkomak has chewy clam meat and excellent umami flavor. February is the peak season. Major species at Yulpo Port include octopus, gizzard shad, and webfoot octopus. Fresh seafood such as saekkomak in winter, Manila clam sashimi, and fresh fish sashimi can be enjoyed.

Yulpo Beach (Solbat Beach) is a beautiful beach with a 60m wide and 1.2km long fine silvery sandy shore combined with pine trees. The water is not deep, making it suitable for swimming. Behind the beach, 100-year-old pine trees form a forest, and the clean waters of Deukryang Bay offer a pristine sea view. Nearby are famous tourist spots such as Daehan Tea Garden, attracting many visitors who combine trips to these attractions with a visit to the beach. Additionally, various convenience facilities are well-equipped, and it features the nation’s only seawater green tea bath and the Yulpo Seawater Pool, an artificial seawater pool covering about 3,000 pyeong, making it an ideal summer retreat for families. Thus, it attracts visitors year-round.
