Located on the northern foothills of Seongjusan Mountain in Boryeong-si, Naengpung Bathing Area offers a unique retreat for those escaping summer heat by the sea or valleys. Cool air blows from deep underground through hundreds of meters of abandoned coal mine tunnels, feeling like air conditioner breeze. Even when the outside temperature is over 30°C, visitors can feel a 12°C cold breeze at the entrance on the mid-mountain slope. Walking slowly about 50m inside, the refreshing chill penetrates to the bone instead of summer heat. The colder the outside temperature, the cooler the emitted breeze becomes. The attached restaurant serves local specialty mushroom pancakes cultivated using the mine’s natural airflow. Nearby rest areas provide views of Cheongcheon Reservoir. Boryeong Naengpung Bathing Area is accessible via National Route 36 on Naengpungyokjang-gil, near Daecheon IC of Seohaean Expressway and Seobuyeo IC of Seocheon-Gongju Expressway.
Pyeonggang Tteul-ae is a rural experience village located by the Cheongcheon Reservoir in the northeastern part of Boryeong-si. Here, visitors can participate in programs to make cheonggukjang, doenjang, and various other fermented sauces, passed down from the Pyeonggang Chae family settled in Pyeonggang Tteul, facing Cheongcheon Reservoir with Oknyobong behind. It is a place for family trips to create lasting memories, offering sensory experiences through explanations of traditional local foods by a children's cooking specialist, allowing visitors to take home the scent and taste of the countryside. Besides traditional jang experiences, visitors can also try making dasik (tea cookies), natural dyeing, and soft tofu. Pyeonggang Tteul-ae is accessible via Ganeusil-gil from National Road 36, and is close to the Daecheon IC on the Seohaean Expressway and the Seobu-yeo IC on the Seocheon-Gongju Expressway.
