Gubyeongsan⛰️ 876 m

Introduction

Known as the 'Mountain surrounded by nine folding rock screens,' Gubyeongsan (876.5m) is located along National Road 25 on the southern side of Sobaeksan National Park, spanning Boeun County in Chungbuk and Sangju City in Gyeongbuk. It is also called 'Gubongsan' because it consists of nine magnificent and beautiful peaks that extend from Sobaeksan, forming a grand mountain ridge along the border between Jeokam-ri, Maro-myeon in Boeun County and Gyeongbuk. The main ridge stretches long from east to west, with the nine peaks lined up like a folding screen, creating a very scenic view that attracts many hikers throughout the year. Gubyeongsan is densely forested with clear water, making it an ideal hiking destination in summer, and its autumn foliage is also noteworthy. Traditionally, in the Boeun region, Sobaeksan Cheonhwangbong, Gubyeongsan, and Geumjeoksan have been called the husband mountain, wife mountain, and son mountain, respectively. In 1999, Boeun County Office registered a 43.9km section connecting Gubyeongsan and Sobaeksan as the Chungbuk Alps to promote the area widely. Hiking starting points include Samgacho Elementary School in Gubyeong-ri, Naesokri-myeon, Jeokam-ri in Maro-myeon, and Songhyeon-ri by the Geumgye Stream.
