1967년 서울대학교 농업생명과학대학이 조성한 우리나라 최초의 연구 수목원이다. 오랜 세월 교육·연구 목적으로 운영되다 2023년 11월부터 일부 구역을 일반 시민에게 개방했다. 개방 면적은 약 20만㎡에 달하며, 수십 년에 걸쳐 가꿔온 다양한 수종과 식물을 가까이서 관찰할 수 있다. 방문은 홈페이지 사전 예약제로 운영되며 하루 최대 평일 1,500명, 주말 4,000명까지 무료로 입장할 수 있다. 잘 정돈된 산책로를 따라 걸으며 계절마다 달라지는 숲의 풍경을 즐기기 좋고, 도심 가까이에서 자연을 느낄 수 있는 힐링 명소로 주목받고 있다. 안양예술공원과 인접해 있어 함께 둘러보는 코스로도 즐길 수 있다.
