Gyeonggi-do Anseong-si Yangseong-myeon Bangsin-ri

Unsuaam is located on the central hill inside Muyang Fortress on Goseong Mountain in Anseong. It is said to have been founded in 1750 (the 26th year of King Yeongjo in the Joseon Dynasty) by Lady Jang. As a widow, Lady Jang prepared a site outside Muyang Fortress to enshrine Buddha, but in a dream an old monk appeared and told her to build the temple inside the fortress. When she cleared the fallen grass and trees at that site, it was found suitable for a temple, and thus this hermitage was built. In 1870 (the 7th year of King Gojong), Daewon-gun donated funds for reconstruction and bestowed a calligraphic plaque with the inscription "Unsuaam." The Daeungjeon was rebuilt in 1986. Currently, the Daeungjeon is on a high central site of the hermitage, with Birojeon standing alongside it. The monks' quarters are positioned perpendicularly to the main axis of Birojeon. When there was no caretaker and the buildings were on the verge of collapse, Ven. Hyeonam repaired and rebuilt the Daeungjeon, preserving it to the present day. Approaching from the entrance of Bangsan-ri toward the northwest, the atmosphere of Unsuaam can be seen through larch and pine forests, accompanied by the clear sound of wooden fish drums on the forest paths. Unsuaam is designated as a cultural heritage site of Gyeonggi-do and houses a seated statue of Vairocana Buddha created in the Goryeo period.

Located in Wongok-myeon, Anseong-si, Chilgok Reservoir is a great place to escape from a busy daily life and enjoy watching the water. The reservoir was created to supply agricultural water but is now used as a place for leisure activities. It is especially famous for its beautiful morning scenery with water mist rising, and you can enjoy different landscapes in each season. It is nice to take a drive along the quiet and peaceful reservoir or to walk slowly. Various restaurants and cafes are lined up around the reservoir.

Goseongsan (298m) offers a quite charming hiking course from Manse Hill to Unsuam. Approaching from Bangsin-ri in Yangseong-myeon, Anseong-si, you will reach Unsuam first. Heading northwest from the entrance of Bangsin-ri, the scenery of Unsuam is visible through larch and pine forests. Unsuam, welcoming visitors first with the clear sound of wooden percussion instruments along the forest path, was founded in the 26th year of King Yeongjo's reign in the Joseon dynasty and is designated as Gyeonggi-do Cultural Heritage Material No. 25. After a careful visit around Unsuam, follow the well-maintained trail for a short walk to reach a mineral spring. After cooling off briefly here, continue on to reach the summit of Goseongsan. From the peak, you can see wide fields of Anseong Yangseong area and plains extending toward Pyeongtaek. Descending from the summit, a small trail leads down toward Bibeopsa, but alternatively, you can also descend over the 216 elevation point behind the mountain lodge rest area.
