Anseong Market was one of the three major markets during the Joseon Dynasty, listed along with Daegu and Jeonju as a gateway to Seoul. It was a large market bustling with various crafts and innkeepers, said to have two or three more varieties than Seoul. However, now it has been modernized to the point where the old appearance is hard to find. The once messy old market has been organized into a neat and tidy place, with a high roof allowing comfortable shopping regardless of season or weather. One factor contributing to Anseong Market's development was the large production of metalware in Anseong. Later, as the Gyeongbu Line shifted its route to Pyeongtaek, the market gradually declined. Currently, the proportion of agricultural products in market transactions has decreased, while the trade of livestock has greatly increased. The market also opens on the 2nd and 7th days along the main road between Anseong Intercity Bus Terminal and Jungang Market. Various spring vegetables such as strawberries, mugwort, and sowthistle are prominent, and especially the scenes of selling meju and jangdok rain covers are heartwarming. On the roadside outside the market, elderly people display assorted spring vegetables, beans, barley, and herbal medicine bundles, waiting for customers, creating the atmosphere of an oiljang (traditional market).
Anseong Herb Village is a natural forest space where you can escape the harshness of the city and heal your weary mind and body. The village features a herb theme with herb plants and colorful, vibrant flowers harmoniously blending together, allowing visitors to feel the greenery of the forest. A glamping site is nestled among the cool trees. Upon entering the village, several glamping sites are neatly arranged. The glamping sites operate daily except for the regular holiday on Mondays. They are equipped with barbecue supplies, microwave, gas burner, air conditioner, and refrigerator. Behind the glamping site, restrooms and shower booths are available. The Her’B Cafe, located on the herb village hill, offers a spacious terrace where you can enjoy changing views with each season. The café is loved as a famous spot in Anseong for its specially roasted premium coffee by experts and freshly baked bread daily. Additionally, there is an aromatherapy footbath café where you can enjoy herb tea and footbaths together. Himalayan salt, herbal medicine, and natural aroma oils are added to relieve fatigue from tired feet and body.
