Okcheon Market is a traditional five-day market held on the 5th and 10th of every month around Geumgucheon Stream in Geumgu-ri, Okcheon-eup. Although it was originally held in the old town (Sangye-ri, Haye-ri), the development of transportation led to the market moving to the area near the Geumgu-ri dike in 1937, forming the current market site. It thrives with 200 regular stores and up to 350 mobile vendors. Historically, residents from nearby Dongi, Annam, Annae, Gunseo, and Gunbuk brought various agricultural products by bus to sell at Okcheon Market on market days while purchasing daily necessities. Now, the market mainly offers various fruits and vegetables, and due to well-developed transportation connecting Seoul, Busan, nearby Geumsan, Daejeon, and Boeun, the bus ride to Daejeon takes only about 15 minutes, highlighting the market’s characteristic as a traditional market adjacent to a large city. This market has been introduced on various TV programs, gradually increasing the number of tourists.
