Located in Changsseon-myeon, Namhae-gun, Sesimsa Temple is a Yaksa Buddha life-release prayer site set against a backdrop of the sea, housing the main Yaksa Buddha and the triad of Ilgwang Bosal and Wolgwang Bosal on the left and right, making it a rare temple in Korea with all three enshrined. The central hall, Daeungjeon, enshrines a gilt-bronze standing Buddha statue known to date from the Unified Silla period. This statue is estimated to have been made around the 9th century; although it has experienced some wear over time, it clearly exhibits characteristics of the Unified Silla era. Further inside the temple grounds, there is a Yongwang-gak (Dragon King Shrine). Sesimsa offers a quiet and pleasant atmosphere and provides opportunities for monk consultations as well as energy healing and prayer.
