Korea Expressway Corporation Arboretum is located 170 km from the Suncheon starting point of Honam Expressway. It covers an area of 340,000㎡ and holds 3,410 species of tree genetic resources. The arboretum operated by Korea Expressway Corporation supplies trees to restore natural environments damaged during expressway construction and collects various plant species for use as a nature study site. It also conducts research on the preservation, propagation, distribution of plants, and development of native plants. The plants in Korea Expressway Corporation Arboretum are mainly planted by family (gwa) units and are conveniently divided into sections including a general arboretum, rock garden, medicinal herb garden, wetland garden, wild grass garden, rose garden, mugunghwa garden, bamboo grove, teaching garden, southern species garden, glass greenhouse, and stream garden.
