Jogyungdan, located within Deokjin Citizen's Park on the ridge of Geonji Mountain surrounded by a dense pine forest, was designated as a Jeonbukteukbyeoljachido monument on June 23, 1973. Yi Han, 21st ancestor of Joseon Taejo, ordered special protection of the burial site, and subsequent kings have similarly guarded it with devotion. In May 1899 (Gwangmu 3), King Gojong built an altar here, assigned senior officials, erected a monument, and designated it as the tomb of the progenitor of the Jeonju Yi clan, naming it 'Daehan Jogyungdan.' An annual memorial service was held and an area of 450 jeongbo was prepared around the altar. Along with Gyeonggijeon and Jogyungmyo, this reinforced Jeonju’s significance as the origin of the royal Jeonju Yi clan. According to the Jeonju Yi clan's genealogical records, Yi Han, who served as a Sa-Gong during the Silla period, is the progenitor, and the clan resided in Jeonju up to the 18th generation Mokjo (Taejo’s 22nd generation). The surrounding area of over 10,000 pyeong is enclosed by a stone wall with gates on the east, west, south, and north sides. About 20 meters south of Jogyungdan is a monument erected by King Gojong, housed in a monument pavilion. The monument, made from giant marble measuring 1.8m wide, 0.3m thick, and about 2m high, stands on a turtle-shaped base. The front of the monument is engraved with 'Daehan Jogyungdan,' inscriptions written by King Gojong himself. The pavilion is a square with sides of 7.2m, three rooms wide, with a hip-and-gable roof.
