Daeri Chilchunggak is a Jeongryeogak built in 1876 to honor the loyalty of the seven brothers of the Pyeongtaek Im family who rose up in Hwasun during the Byeongjahoran in 1634. Jeongryeo refers to commemorating filial sons, virtuous women, and loyal subjects by erecting a gate or a small pavilion in front of their house or at the entrance of a village. A Jeongryeogak is a building rather than a gate. The names of the seven brothers are Im Sigye, Im Sitae, Im Simin, Im Siun, Im Sijun, Im Siik, and Im Siyak. They marched with Hwasun militia to Cheongju but, upon hearing that King Injo surrendered to the Qing Taizong, they returned to their hometown and lived in seclusion while remaining loyal to the king until the end. All were posthumously awarded official titles such as Minister of Rites Associate State Councillor (Im Sigye, Im Simin), Left Vice Minister (Im Sitae), and Minister of Revenue Associate State Councillor (Im Siun) at the time of the Jeongryeo. Since its construction, there have been no major changes such as relocation or destruction. It is built on a natural stone foundation with rough-cut stone footings and round pillars, consisting of seven bays in the front and one bay on the side. The roof uses guldori (a horizontal beam crossing perpendicularly over a round cross-section main beam to decorate the eaves roof), and all four sides have hongsal (decorative lattices) installed without walls.
