Following the ten-ri cherry blossom road along Ssanggyegye Valley, you will find Yosandang between Ssanggyesa and Chilbulsa temples. Established in 1978, this place is operated by Okseon Myeongcha, a subsidiary of Goryeo Dawon, a Hadong wild tea brand, where you can purchase and taste tea cultivated by Goryeo Dawon. Before entering Yosandang, take a look across the valley to see a lush wild tea field on the steep slopes of Jirisan. The representative, Mr. Hagu, says that while tea grown in fields is like 'ordinary ginseng,' wild green tea from Jirisan valleys is like 'mountain ginseng.' Mr. Hagu inherited this business from his father, Mr. Hasangyeon, and has been farming tea for 30 years. Okseon Myeongcha manages the largest tea fields at the foot of Jirisan, adhering to principles of no pesticides and no fertilizers. They use no machines in cultivation and manufacturing, and tea leaves are hand-rolled over 180–190°C flames without gloves. This handcrafting philosophy adds utmost sincerity to the finest ingredients. Thanks to this, Okseon Myeongcha is famous for high-quality tea, winning excellence awards at domestic and international tea competitions for 17 years since 2002. Especially, the beautiful tea leaves remain intact after brewing, which is well-known among tea enthusiasts.
